About The Boss Nurse

Hello and Welcome! My name is Marsha Harrison, and I am the founder of The Boss Nurse! The Boss Nurse website is a resource for nurse entrepreneurs. This site an avenue for inspiration and encouragement to nurses.

My Story of Transformation

The Boss NurseI have been a nurse for ten years, and I must say, I love being a nurse. When I reminisce about the time I started, I could never see myself doing anything but direct patient care. In the year 2015, I began to reevaluate what I want out of my life, and my desires began to change.

Here is what happened. I left my staff nurse position to begin life as a travel nurse. Because I live in North Carolina with my husband and young daughter, it was vital for me to not travel far away from home. I would only go up to 200 miles away so that I can be home within 4 hours.

Travel nursing is super exciting! I had the opportunity to meet and work with some fantastic nurses at some large and some small hospitals. The payment packages were also a good incentive for doing it.

However, the increase in pay did not compensate for the many challenges that I faced. I am sure you know the problems that come with the nursing career.

The stress, exhaustion, staff shortage and abuse from patients, can be very frustrating. Add my long commutes to the mix, and you get a significant recipe for burnout and compassion fatigue.

The Turning Point

I traveled to Trinidad and Tobago with my family for a much-needed 3-week vacation. It was then I realized the type of life I want for myself and those close to me.

I wanted the laptop lifestyle. Travel and make an income from anywhere in the world became my new desire and professional goal.

I embarked on a journey to find a way to make money online. It was one of self-development and self-education. It was not comfortable.

If anyone tells you that starting an online business is easy, the lie detector test determined that was a lie! Don’t believe it.

I spent countless hours reading books on business, marketing, and personal development.

The number of webinars and Youtube videos I watched or podcast I listened to were numerous. I sacrificed the usual binge-watching TV shows that I loved so I can work on building a profitable business.

I took e-learning courses and invested in coaching that I needed to move forward. It was a process I tell you. The struggle was real!

However, I remained persistent and consistent, and it was worth it. There is still much work to do to grow and build my business, but I want you to know that it is possible. With the right guidance, the right mindset and the determination to make it happen, it is possible.

The Purpose and Goal of this Blog

The purpose of this blog is to share my knowledge with you who desire to do more, be more and have more. There is nothing wrong with wanting more out of life. As long as you are willing to put the work in you will grow.

We are to improve and grow daily. It is my opinion that reading is vital to personal growth. However, it depends on what you read. Garbage in garbage out. I promise not to feed you any garbage.

My goal is to create valuable content to help you along your entrepreneurial journey. If you have been thinking about starting a business for a long time, then this blog is for you. For you who have an online store but you feel stuck, this blog is for you.

If you are looking for ways to get rich overnight, sorry this blog is not for you. I am not in the business of quick riches, anyone that promise you quick riches is a fraud.

To my fellow nurse entrepreneur, if I inspire and motivate you to start or grow your online business, then I have accomplished my goal for this blog.

I take this time to welcome all nurse entrepreneurs to this blog. I hope that my content will provide value to you and your present or future business.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comment section below. I will be more than happy to respond to you.
